The University of Chicago requires all faculty to complete annual conflict of interest disclosures, regardless of whether or not they receive funding from external sources. Certifications should be completed within the COI module within AURA. Please be advised that all faculty have been notified via a system-generated emails that their 2018 – 2019 Financial Disclosure Form is available within the AURA COI-COC module.
This form captures all external commercial relations that faculty will engage in from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019. Faculty must then update this disclosure as changes occur throughout the year. The impact to current and pending sponsored awards, including clinical trials, in relation to the timing of certification of the annual conflict of interest is noted below:
As in previous years, a grace period has been granted until 9/1/2018 for proposals being submitted without an associated new disclosure. After that date, proposals will not be submitted without a completed disclosure for all individuals covered by the university FCOI policy.
Awards & Contracts:
While URA will negotiate and execute contracts with sponsors, please note that awards, contracts, and clinical trial funding will not be released for distribution until there is a current 2018 – 2019 disclosure on file for all individuals covered by the university FCOI policy. This means that while we may have a fully executed agreement with the sponsor, budget for the award will not be made available for expenditures until the disclosure is complete. Please encourage your faculty to complete their disclosures so that awards can be distributed for them without delay.
The referenced disclosures described above are in addition to the usual AURA FP project-specific Disclosures and applicable CITI training requirements.
