As a reminder, the University and University Research Administration will be closing for Winter Recess on Thursday, December 23, 2021, 12:00 PM, and reopening Monday, January 3, 2022, 9:00 AM. Please be aware of the following deadlines for research administration-related items.

Pre-Proposals, Proposals, and Just-in-Time (JIT) Requests:
All pre-proposals that require URA submission, proposals, and JITs with deadlines in early January should be submitted to URA no later than 5 p.m. CST on Thursday, December 16, 2021 to allow ample time to address any urgent issues that may arise. We strongly encourage earlier submission. All pre-award items routed after 5 p.m. CST on Thursday, December 16, 2021 will be handled on a case-by-case basis. If you anticipate submitting for any pre-award deadlines in early January, please contact your URA Pre-Award Research Administrator Anna Jackson, Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs Pre-Award as soon as possible, so that we may plan accordingly.
Agreement Negotiation:
All new Agreements and Contracts should be routed in AURA Agreements no later than 5 p.m. CST on Friday, December 10, 2021. We strongly encourage earlier submissions. If meeting this deadline is not possible, please contact Jennifer Ponting so that we can plan accordingly.
Award and Award Modification Requests:
All New and Continuing Awards will be processed by the URA Post Award Team for review following current guidelines. Any high priority awards which require immediate attention due to sponsor deadlines should be marked urgent and sent to awards@uchicago.edu prior to 5 p.m. CST on Thursday, December 16, 2021. The URA Post Award Administrators will prioritize all Award Modification Requests so that any urgent requests are addressed promptly.
New Account Set-Up and Advance Account Requests:
Please complete all ancillary reviews for new account set up by 5 p.m. CST on Monday, December 20, 2021. Regular account set up will resume on Monday, January 3, 2022. Please submit advance account requests for proposals in Pending Sponsor Review by 5 p.m. CST on Monday, December 20, 2021.
Closing Memos:
Per URA normal process, all closing memos must be sent to URA 20 days prior to the financial report due date. Any closing memo due between December 23, 2021 and January 2, 2022 should be submitted no later than Friday, December 3, 2021.
