URA Staff Update – Susan Zonia

Dear Colleagues –

I am writing to share with you that Susan Zonia will be leaving the University. Her last day will be June 29th. Susan has decided to pursue other interests.

Susan joined the University of Chicago on August 2011 as the Director of Research Integrity in the URA. Many of you have worked with her over the years and have first-hand knowledge of her commitment to compliance in research administration and her many contributions to the University on her capacity as a compliance director.   During her six years on this role she has developed hundreds of management plans and was a key player in the development and maintenance, in conjunction with NSIT, of the web-based annual Conflict of Interest Assurance and Disclosure system (AURA COI-COC and AURA IRB). She developed and implemented administrative policies and procedures relating to research integrity, with emphasis on human research protections and individual financial conflict of interest program that has helped the University tremendously.

Although it is sad to have Susan leave the University of Chicago, she is excited about this new chapter in her personal and professional life. Please join me in expressing gratitude to Susan for her contributions, guidance, and all the hard work on behalf of the faculty and the University as a whole while at the University of Chicago. Please join me in wishing Susan tremendous success and all the best in her future endeavors.

In the coming weeks, we will let campus know of the staffing plans in URA.  In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mike Ludwig (mrludwig@uchicago.edu) or Jenny Meyer-Rood (jmeyerood@uchicago.edu)
