Universities are now required to provide assurance that they are in compliance with Public Law No. 93-234, “Flood Disaster Protection Act of 1973,” in order to receive federal construction/facilities awards. When so required, the University should make the following statement:
The University of Chicago assures compliance with Public Law No. 93-234, “Flood Disaster Protection Act of 1973.” The University has been advised that it is not in a flood plain, as defined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The University carries flood insurance up to a $100 million loss.
