PVR FAQs

1. Is a signature required on a blank PVR?

Yes. It does not have to be signed by a faculty member, but it must be signed. A blank PVR means a payroll charge hit the account and was later transferred / removed.

Someone with direct knowledge of the project activity may certify the PVR, typically a department Chair or Dean. Ensure to notate this on the PVR.

3. May a delegate sign on behalf of the PI?

Yes, but PI approval supporting documentation must be obtained and attached to the PVR.

4. Are digital and electronic signatures allowed?

Yes, but additional verification may be requested.

5. Which earn codes are excluded from the PVR calculation?

6. Amount on PVR does not reconcile with departmental records

Use Business Objects Report PAR-102 to ensure that only amounts for the current effort period is included in your calculation, and that no excluded earn code amounts are included in the calculated amount.
